Abstract:

To determine the extent of marital satisfaction among the WIVES of the imposed war VETERANS, a sample of 104 WIVES were given the ENRICH questionnaire. It was discovered that most WIVES are relatively satisfied with their marriage, yet there was no significant relationship between their total score on the marital satisfaction scale and their demographic characteristics. Furthermore, the total marital satisfaction scores showed the highest correlation with conflict resolution scores, while they had the lowest correlation with the religious orientation scores. Those with higher levels of satisfaction experienced fewer psychological problems. Overall, it can be said that the VETERANS' WIVES having strong religious beliefs and being receptive to the risks of physical and psychological damages are able to maintain a satisfying marital life irrespective of the number of children, extent of their husbands' disabilities, and age increase. Nevertheless, psychological support is recommended.

Abstract:

Recognizing the variations of motherhood experience among women as key family actors, this study examines the lived experience of disabled VETERANS' WIVES from the perspective of social sciences. The main questions are: ‘ Basically what is the experience of disabled VETERANS' WIVES in taking on maternal role, what experience do these actors have in their daily lives, and what are the consequences of taking on motherhood and nursing roles at the same time in family life? The study has been conducted in a qualitative manner and on the basis of narrative research, and during the research, 30 WIVES of disable VETERANS living in Tehran were interviewed. The average age of the interviewees was 50 years, the average years of their living with a disabled veteran was 27 years and the average number of their children was 2. 2. The results of coding the interviews show that role pressure and motherhood-nursing role conflict have had many consequences in the family life of disabled VETERANS' WIVES. Of course, women's experiences varied depending on their husbands’ type of disability, families’ financial resources, and children’ s circumstances; however, the consequences of fathers’ disability on children and mothers’ trying to mediate between fathers and children is one of the main challenges for disabled VETERANS' WIVES. Suspension of maternal role, generation gap between fathers and children, economic dissatisfaction and social stigma are part of the lived experience of disabled VETERANS' WIVES, which increasingly imposes severe pressures and tensions on them. Overall, loneliness, worry and role pressure make the extended motherhood into the central theme of the disabled VETERANS' WIVES' lived experience in playing their maternal role.

Abstract:

Aims: The effects of psychological trauma and stress resulting from war continue to impact the families of VETERANS long after the conflict has ended. These effects can lead to a decrease in resilience among VETERANS and their spouses. The present study aimed to predict the resilience of VETERANS’ spouses based on social hope and religious gratitude, and it was conducted in the city of Kerman. Instrument & Methods: This correlational study involved the spouses of VETERANS in Kerman, with a sample size of 260 individuals selected using a convenience sampling method based on structural equation modeling. To collect data, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Snyder’s Hope Scale, and Goodarzi et al.'s Iranian-Islamic Gratitude Questionnaire were utilized. Findings: There was a positive and direct relationship between social hope (p=0.001) and religious gratitude (p=0.015) with resilience. Additionally, there was a positive and direct relationship between social hope and religious gratitude (p=0.001). Social hope and religious gratitude, as positive emotions, could significantly influence resilience. Conclusion: Social hope and religious gratitude, as positive emotions, affect resilience.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare overall life satisfaction, subjective well-being, family stress, and stress symptoms of WIVES of three groups of Iranian disabled VETERANS.Method: Participants included 97 WIVES of three groups of disabled VETERANS (Group 1with 25-49% disability; Group 2 with 50-69% disability; and Group 3 with larger or equal to 70% disability). The participants were selected randomly by computers of Iranian Martyrs and VETERANS Foundations. Personal Well-being Index-Adult, Family Inventory of Life Events and Changes and Stress-related Symptoms Inventory were used to measure overall life satisfaction, family resources of stress and stress symptoms. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and linear multivariate regression analysis. Results: Results showed that there are no differences in stress symptoms among the 3 groups. However, the WIVES of group 2 showed less stress and more global life satisfaction and subjective well-being; whereas, WIVES of group 3 showed more family stress and less global life satisfaction and subjective well-being. However, the WIVES of group 1 showed less global life satisfaction, subjective well-being and less family stress. Conclusion: Based on other studies, the results of group 1 is abnormal. This abnormality in results is due to two reasons: first, the participants tried to show poorer quality of life. Second, these women have not received enough facilities and services. Therefore, they lost their natural homeostasis. It seems that the last reason is more real because of equality in stress symptoms between the 3 groups.
